Faxing (Frontline Staff Functions)

 

 

Faxing to Primary Provider

 

Precondition: The selected provider and encounter category type meet the criteria for faxing.

 

  1. After clicking Submit Encounter, scroll down to Communication Summary and click the appropriate checkbox (‘Patient Consents’ – patient has explicitly given consent to faxing the encounter to selected provider; ‘Override Consent’ – patient has not consented to faxing the encounter to selected provider but per organizational policy encounter has to be faxed). 

 

 

  1. The encounter will be faxed after clicking Close and Send.  If the encounter needs to stay open but also has to be faxed, click Send Now.

 

 

 

Note: If the patient does not consent and the situation in not covered in the organization’s policy regarding consent overrides, leave the checkboxes unchecked and the encounter will not be faxed.

 

 

  

Faxing to Service/Facility

 

Precondition: The selected encounter category type and service/facility meet the criteria for faxing (e.g., Telehealth + Hospital Services – Fax).

 

1.    After clicking Submit Encounter, scroll down to Communication Summary and click the appropriate checkbox (‘Patient Consents’ – patient has explicitly given consent to faxing the encounter to selected provider; ‘Override Consent’ – patient has not consented to faxing the encounter to selected provider but per organizational policy encounter has to be faxed).

 

 

2.    The encounter will be faxed after clicking Close and Send.  If the encounter needs to stay open but also has to be faxed, click Send Now.

Checking Faxing Preview

 

1.    In Communication Summary, click Preview.  (Note: The preview will open in a new tab.)

 

 

2.    To close the preview, click x on the tab.
